One day when we were young 《當我們年輕時(One day when we were young)》這首歌，是三十年代美國拍攝的故事影片《翠堤春曉(The Great Waltz)》里的一首插曲。　 這是一部描寫“圓舞曲之王”約翰·施特勞斯(Johann Straus II)的生活故事影片。在這部影片裡，施特勞斯愛上了一位女高音歌唱家，他們在一起時，那位歌唱家經常唱他寫的這首歌。由於這首歌曲調很優美，便於記憶，又有這么一個動人的情節，因此，給觀眾印象深刻。 　 影片放映之後，到處傳唱。人們還以為施特勞斯當年真的為這位歌唱家寫了這么一首情歌。實際上，這部影片裡的故事情節，有一些是虛構的，這首歌曲的誕生便是一例。它是影片編導者借用了約翰·施特勞斯1885年寫的輕歌劇《吉普賽男爵》里的一首男女聲二重唱的曲調，由奧斯卡·漢默斯頓(Oscar Hammerstein II)根據影片故事情節的需要重新填詞，才成為現在這首歌的。因為影片流傳很廣，人們才錯認為約翰·施特勞斯當初寫過這么一首曲名叫《當我們年輕時》的情歌。
