德國馬爾堡大學教授,德國科學院院士,英國皇家化學會院士。非核糖體多肽(NRPS)和核糖體多肽(RPS)抗生素領域的大牛。主要研究NRPS的晶體結構,合成機理,組合生物合成和chemoenzymatic synthesis,和酶催化反應機理。代表分子太多,surfactin等等主要來之bacillus。
M. A. Marahiel 教授在開羅大學及哥根廷大學化學專業學習.1977年,他獲得了哥根廷大學的微生物與生化專業的博士學位。隨後他在柏林工業大學獲得助理教授的職位,1987年獲得教授資格。三年後他來到馬爾堡大學化學系擔任教授。1978及1986年他以德國科學基金會研究員的身份前往John Innes Institute in Norwich (UK)和哈佛大學biolabs從事研究 。2004年他成為德國科學院院士及英國皇家化學會院士。
目前他的主要研究方向為NRPS的晶體結構,合成機理,組合生物合成和chemoenzymatic synthesis 多肽類抗生素,鐵運載體,壓力調控蛋白。目前已在nature,science,Angew.Chem, JACS等世界頂級雜誌發表論文200多篇,總H-index 59,是微生物天然產物生物合成領域的頂級科學家。
