Philip Michael Ondaatje是斯里蘭卡籍加拿大小說家及詩人。

The English Patient（英國病人）是他最出名的小說並且贏得了布克小說獎（ Booker Prize） 其小說改編電影也獲得了奧斯卡金像獎。

1954年Michael Ondaatje出生於科倫坡並隨母親搬至英國。

1962年搬至加拿大。

他先後在畢曉普大學（Bishop's College School）和 Bishop's University 學習了一段時間後搬至多倫多,在多倫多大學（University of Toronto)取得文科學士學位並在皇后大學(Queen's University)取得文科碩士學位，之後他開始在西安大略大學（University of Western Ontario）教課。

1970他定居多倫多，並在1971至1988,他在約克大學（York University）及格倫登大學（Glendon College）執教英文文學。
