Melina Marchetta (born 25 March 1965) is an Australian writer and teacher. Melina is best known as the author of novels, Looking for Alibrandi, Saving Francesca and On the Jellicoe Road. She has twice been awarded the CBCA Children's Book of the Year Award: Older Readers, in 1993 and 2004. For Jellicoe Road she won the 2009 Michael L. Printz Award from the American Library Association, recognising the year's best book for young adults.[1] Marchetta holds a name for being one of the more prominent Australian Authors of present time in Young-Adult Fiction.

十幾歲的少年時代本來就煩惱多多，但是對於由新人皮亞-米蘭達飾演的喬茜-阿里布蘭迪來說，生活尤其紛亂複雜。作為三個“被詛咒的”阿里布蘭迪女人之一，她只希望能通過期末考試，進入法律學院，以及讓她的夢中情人愛上她。
雖然獲得獎學金就讀於一所高級的私立女校，17歲的喬茜仍感到很不適應。她覺得自己無法完全融入周圍富有和出身上流社會的同學中。
喬茜覺得和自己的家庭幾乎屬於兩個世界，她為家庭的傳統感到尷尬。喬茜和當地私立男校的學生主席約翰-巴頓(馬修-牛頓飾)互相吸引。
然而，喬茜的生活總是處於與母親克里絲蒂娜(格蕾塔-斯卡齊飾，其它作品有《埃瑪》、《玩家》和《無罪假設》)和外祖母卡迪亞的不斷爭吵之中。卡迪亞總說這個家之所以被詛咒是因為克里絲蒂娜有喬茜這個私生女。只有喬茜和她母親知道喬茜生父的身份。而當她的生父(2004年金球獎獲得者安東尼-拉帕利亞飾，其它作品有《愛與信任》和《銀行》)出現在她的生活中，喬茜-阿里布蘭迪的生活變得更複雜了。
