盧西恩·戴維斯出生於利物浦，是威廉·戴維斯的兒子，也是風景畫家J。瓦倫丁·戴維斯。他曾為《倫敦畫報》（Illustrated London News）、《圖解》（the Graphic）和許多插圖書籍擔任插圖畫家。他以維多利亞社會的風俗畫而聞名，並於1885年至1913年間在皇家學院展出。
