創作背景

歌曲於1987年開始創作。席爾表示，歌曲是在一場試驗中誕生的。在這場試驗中，他錄製了包括這首歌曲在內等四首歌曲的小樣。他對此次的成果感到“很尷尬”，於是便將這些小樣扔到了角落裡，並拒絕在製作人特雷弗·霍恩面前播放它們。一段時間後，他在一位好友前播放了這首歌曲，而這位朋友則將這首歌曲的存在告訴給了霍恩。之後當席爾同霍恩在準備他的第二張錄音室專輯時，霍恩建議他去錄製這首歌曲。
