《愛麗絲夢遊仙境》中，惡龍Jabberwocky像恐龍一樣高大，有著一副爬蟲的翅膀，身上還覆蓋著鱗片，它的爪子長而尖銳，長著兩條分別向上向下的尾巴。在預言中的輝煌日，Jabberwocky被手持佛盤劍的愛麗絲斬殺。Jabberwocky也被音譯作 炸脖龍或伽卜沃奇。
《愛麗絲夢遊仙境》的姊妹篇《愛麗絲穿鏡奇幻記》第一章里收錄了一首名為Jabberwocky的詩，也就是同名電影裡紅王后口口聲聲說的小寶貝------伽卜沃奇（譯名不同）

'Twas brillig，and the slithy toves Did gyre and gimble in the wabe； All mimsy were the borogoves， And the mome raths outgrabe. 'Beware the Jabberwock，my son！ The jaws that bite，the claws that catch！ Beware the Jubjub bird，and shun The frumious Bandersnatch！' He took his vorpal sword in hand： Long time the manxome foe he sought So rested he by the Tumtum tree， And stood awhile in thought. And as in uffish thought he stood. The Jabberwock，with eyes of flame， Came whiffling through the tulgey wood， And burbled as it came！ One，two！One，two！And through and through The vorpal blade went snicker-snack！ He left it dead，and with its head He went galumphing back. 這個版本完全是意譯，把一首童謠般的“廢話連篇”的詩譯成這樣一首很有氣場，並保持了古英語和原著的風格實屬不易。
