Federico Bonelli生於義大利，在義大利當地接受舞蹈訓練直到1992年。1992年，前往都靈舞蹈學院學習並在此接受義大利及古巴教師的訓練。他曾獲得古巴哈瓦那國際芭蕾舞大賽二等獎；Rieti國際芭蕾舞大賽一等獎及洛桑大獎賽獎學金。1996年加入瑞士芭蕾舞團並於1997年成為獨舞演員；1999年，加入丹麥芭蕾舞團並於2002年晉升為主要演員。在此期間，他的代表劇目包括Cinderella, Eagling's Nutcracker, Van Dantzig's Romeo and Juliet, Bjorn's La Sylphide, Onegin and works by Balanchine, Forsythe, Van Manen, Massine, Robbins and Tetley.
