美國歌手Eric Benet早期曾與他的姐姐及表兄組成Benet組合，並於92年發行專輯，但此專輯銷售不佳。之後的兩年，Eric的父親因病去世，女朋友Tami Marie又在一次車禍中不幸喪生，一連串的打擊使得Eric的歌唱事業一度中斷。94年，Eric發行個人首張專輯《True to Myself》，99年又發行了個人第二張專輯《A Day In The Life》，同年，Eric摘得Soul Train最佳R&B/Soul男歌手。
