2010年3月31日訊息，據國外媒體報導，Linkin Park對外宣布，樂隊將發行一首名為《Blackbirds》的新作，這首歌曲將會作為遊戲《Linkin Park 8-Bit Rebellion!》的背景配樂。

這次林肯公園與Artificial Life公司展開合作，樂隊將為公司所開發的一款遊戲進行配樂。在這個名為《Linkin Park 8-Bit Rebellion!》的遊戲中，一個名為PixxelKorp的魔王偷走了林肯公園樂隊的音樂，玩家將通過自己的努力逐級通關以奪回被搶走的音樂。有趣的是，每一關的設計都依據樂隊的每一位成員的創意。

樂隊的主唱麥克-信田(Mike Shinoda)在自己的部落格中為新單曲和遊戲進行了宣傳：“很多年以前，整個世界以8比特的和諧而存在，不過這一切被PixxelKorp所打破。如今，來自地下的力量將迫使我們去同邪惡世界的力量進行戰鬥，你將是帶領我們反抗直到勝利的唯一希望。”

麥克-信田補充說：“為電子遊戲創作音樂，對於我們來說是一次全新的挑戰。不過如大家所預期的那樣，我的隊友們同遊戲設計小組的成員進行了有效的溝通與交流，而我們也相信所創作的新歌曲會非常切合遊戲的內容。”

《Blackbirds》作為新單曲將不會收錄到樂隊的精選輯中，而這也是藝人首次通過遊戲發布新單曲。此外，林肯公園同樣提供了樂隊的經典單曲《In the End》、《New Divide》和《Crawling》8比特版本。

林肯公園的新遊戲《Linkin Park 8-Bit Rebellion!》很快會通過蘋果公司的iTunes商店在蘋果的各類產品中上市。
