故事改編自Hans Ruesch的小說《心之南方：一部關於現代阿拉伯的小說》，講述了30年代早期兩大阿拉伯酋長之間的鬥爭。有人將本片形容為“《阿拉伯的勞倫斯》+《血色將至》”。
