1946年6月20日出生於加拿大的新斯科舍的一個醫生家庭。 Anne從小就受到當地頗有名望的音樂人 士的啟蒙教育，她常自彈自唱，並以此為樂。 儘管如此，她還是認為音樂只是一項娛樂。 直到1964年的某一天，有人勸她去聽一下一個電視專欄節目"Sing Along Jubilee”， 而Anne卻選擇另一檔節目"Let's Go”來欣賞，這個由 Bill Langstroth（她後來的丈夫）主持的節目深深吸引了她，使她走上了以音樂為伴的人生之路.

早期生涯
