《中國社會統計年鑑一2010》是一部較為全面反映我國社會發展相關領域情況的資料性年刊。全書以部門的社會統計資料為基礎，主要包括：教育、文化、體育、衛生、社會服務、殘疾人事業及公共事業管理和社會組織等幾個部分。
二、由於有關部門統計基礎和現有資料情況各異，其資料在全書中所占篇幅各有不同，部門資料的歷史年份也未統一，但資料基本上可以反映部門統計的不同特點。
三、書中以附錄的形式收錄了反映部門事業發展的統計公報和重大調查成果的報告，是對社會統計數據資料的必要完善與補充。書後附有主要統計指標解釋。
四、《2010中國社會統計年鑑（附光碟1張）》的資料分別來自於：教育部、文化部、廣電總局、新聞出版總署、檔案局、體育總局、衛生部、民政部、公安部、最高人民檢察院、最高人民法院、法務部、人力資源和社會保障部、中央組織部、中央統戰部、全國人大、全國政協、總工會、全國婦聯和全國殘聯等部門。
