本實驗室研究重點是細胞器的形成和降解。目前集中在纖毛和油滴這兩類細胞器上。纖毛是分布在大多數的真核原生生物和動物細胞表面，由微管和外面包裹的纖毛膜組成，執行者重要的運動和感受功能，與人類的多囊腎、肥胖以及癌症等纖毛病有關。本學科組利用原生生物衣藻、斑馬魚、腎表皮細胞來研究纖毛組裝和解聚的分子機理，同時利用以上的模式來篩選治療纖毛病的藥物。
油滴是由單層磷脂所包裹的中性脂肪酸所組成，廣泛存在於藻類、酵母以及動植物細胞中。油滴中的甘油三酸酯可用來製備生物柴油。目前實驗室利用細胞生物學、分子生物學、生物化學、系統生物學和蛋白質組學的技術和方法集中研究控制油滴的生物合成、生物降解和分泌的外在因子和細胞內的代謝調控網路，並利用這些知識來改造現有的微藻生產生物柴油。
