多年來一直從事化合物半導體材料與器件、半導體光催化材料和介電材料、納米材料與薄膜材料和能源與環境材料等方面的研究工作。在Angew.Chem.Int.Ed, J.Am.Chem.Soc.,Chem.Commun., Energy Environ. Sci., Chem. Mater., ACS Nano等國內外學術刊物發表論文360多篇。論文SCI引用超過11000餘次,個人H因子54。有17篇論文被ESI選為高引用論文(Highly Cited Papers),入選Elsevier2014, 2015年中國高被引學者榜單(Most cited Chinese Researchers),進入英國皇家化學會“Top 1%高引用中國作者”榜單。曾獲得山東省科技進步一等獎、山東省科技進步二等獎、教育部自然科學二等獎,山東省自然科學二等獎、華光科技獎等多項獎勵。泰山學者特聘教授,享受國家政府津貼,全國百篇優秀博士論文指導教師,山東省優秀研究生指導教師。先後主持包括國家自然科學重點基金項目、 "七五"、"八五"、"九五"國家"863"計畫、“973”計畫項目、國防科工委預研項目、國家計委產業化前期關鍵技術項目在內的多項國家重要研究課題。申請和授權發明專利二十多項。擔任多個國際、國內學術組織委員,學術會議主席,國際學術期刊編輯和客座主編等。國家基金委會評專家。多次受邀做國際、國內學術會議大會報告和特邀報告。
