魚類行為與進化學科組主要從事魚類行為學和魚類進化生物學兩個方面的研究。在魚類行為學方面,主要以鰟鮍魚類、鱖魚及其它鯉科魚類作為模式,研究魚類的繁殖行為、攝食行為、學習行為,和行為的發育等,以便理解動物行為學的普遍規律,從而更好地進行魚類資源開發利用和保護。在魚類進化生物學方面,我們的研究興趣主要集中在東亞淡水魚類的起源和進化方面。通過整合分子和形態學數據,採用分子系統發育分析及系統發育比較的方法,重建東亞淡水魚類尤其是鯉形目魚類的系統發育關係,研究它們的物種分化模式及過程,表型和基因型隨時間和空間的變化,進化的節奏及模式等。
