內容簡介

欲知世界各地之真相，可取此書讀之。君等將在其中得見所志大亞美尼亞（Grande Arm6nie）、波斯（Perse）、韃靼（Tartarie）、印度（Inde）及其他不少州區之奇蹟，且其敘述秩序井然，明了易解：凡此諸事，皆是威尼斯賢而貴的市民馬可·波羅君所目睹者，問有非彼目睹者，則聞之於確實可信之人。所以吾人之所徵引，所見者著明所見，所聞者著明所聞，庶使本書確實，毫無虛偽。有聆是書或讀是書者，應信其真。蓋書中所記皆實，緣自上帝創造吾人始祖亞當（Adam）以來，歷代之人探知世界各地及其奇蹟者，無有如馬可·波羅君所知之廣也。故彼以為，若不將其實在見聞之事筆之於書，使他人未嘗聞見者獲知之，其事誠為不幸。余更有言者，凡此諸事，皆彼居留各國垂二十六年之見聞。迨其禁錮於熱那亞（G4nes）獄中之時，乃求其同獄者皮撒（Pise）城人魯思梯謙（Rusticien）詮次之，時在基督降生後之1298年雲。

作者簡介

馬可・皮羅是13世紀傑出的旅行家。在世界史上，他是第一個遊歷中國及其他亞洲國家且留下一部重要著作――《馬可・波羅遊記》的歐洲人。馬可・波羅（1254―1324年）出生在義大利“水城”威尼斯，家庭經商。17歲時，年輕的馬可・波羅跟隨父親可羅・馬可和叔父馬飛阿沿著“絲綢之路”來到中國，他們穿越敘利亞、兩河流域、伊朗全境，橫跨中亞的沙漠地帶，翻過帕米爾高原，經過喀什、于田、羅布泊、玉門。歷時三年半，不畏艱辛，終於來到他們夢想中神秘的東方古國。
