“鐵衛雄獅”是《小獅王守護隊》（The Lion Guard）的非正式譯名。《鐵衛雄獅》是根據迪士尼1994年經典動畫電影《獅子王》衍生出的系列動畫。2015年11月22日《鐵衛雄獅：咆哮歸來》（The Lion Guard：Return Of The Roar）電影首映，同年12月14日，《鐵衛雄獅》動畫先預版上映，第一部官方系列動畫於2016年1月15日在迪士尼少兒頻道（Disney Junior）正式播出。
《鐵衛雄獅》講述了在《獅子王》與《獅子王2》期間，Simba與Nala的第二個兒子Kion，和他同為“鐵衛雄獅”小組的小夥伴的守護榮耀國的冒險故事。

故事劇情
《鐵衛雄獅》再度以壯闊的非洲草原為背景，描寫辛巴和娜娜的第二個孩子Kion，成為“鐵衛雄獅”小隊的隊長，和他隊伍中的夥伴們對抗以Janja為首的鬣狗集團，守衛榮耀國的故事。整個系列的中心思想圍繞著資源保育、家庭與親友的重要性等方面展開，是一部富有教育意義的少兒動畫。

發展
隨著音樂劇《獅子王》與2011年發布的《獅子王》藍光碟的成功，Ford Riley 被經理要求擴展經銷權。而在2014年Disney Junior的總經理Nancy Kanter與迪士尼董事長兼執行長Robert Iger間的會談後，《鐵衛雄獅》系列的發布聲明被發布。Iger建議Kanter 的迪士尼少兒頻道（Disney Junior）應該考慮推出慶祝《獅子王》誕辰20周年的動畫作品。迪士尼很早為要呈現給少兒觀眾的相關畫面聽取許多意見，包括調整鬣狗的形象等等。許多與《鐵衛雄獅》系列相關的書籍也在2015年末至2016年初出版發售。
先行預告片於2015年8月14日至16日在迪士尼D23 Expo 展出。

As a followup to The Lion King, Disney Junior's The Lion Guard: Return of the Roar is a fun-filled, if younger-skewing, hour of television (as opposed to the original movie, which appealed to both young and old). All the classic characters and locations are here, including some of the original talent, and the art direction and music is solid. There's even some interesting history to the eponymous Lion Guard that fleshes out characters like Mufasa and Scar. That said, some of the new characters don't quite jibe with the classic feel of the 1994 movie, and the special lacks a compelling villain -- although young kids will still likely enjoy the special.
