研究方向：
研究領域為城市規劃與設計。主要有城市設計的理論與方法、城市設計與城市開發項目研究、政府在城市設計實施中的技術、城市設計教育。
哈爾濱工業大學深圳研究生院前任院長，主要研究領域為城市設計的理論與方法，自1988年以來，先後在國內外學術刊物上發表學術論文80餘篇，獨立出版學術論著3部、合作出版學術論著1部；主持國家級、省部級和市級科研項目多項和城市設計工程項目多項，許多學術成果獲得省部級獎勵，多次在國際國內學術會議上做專題發言。 自1993年以來共指導碩士研究生94名，其中86名畢業獲得碩士學位；博士研究生24名，其中16名畢業獲得博士學位。
