國內臨床醫學教學中已經形成了一套設計簡單、操作可行的“生理學”和“藥理學”實驗教學項目，且已經配備了相應的設備、設施和試劑。近幾年的教學改革中，越來越多的院校將兩部分實驗整合為醫學機能實驗。《醫學機能實驗（英文版）》中的實驗設計參考了國內主要醫學院校生理學和藥理學傳統實驗項目的設計，編排順序參考了“生理學”和“藥理學”理論課程的授課順序，符合系統化教學要求；同時，增加部分創新設計實驗和能力拓展型實驗，為提升留學生培養質量、引導部分學生獨立設計和開展探索性科學實驗預置了空間，可以滿足國外留學生、雙語教學學生、醫學專業7年制學生“生理學”和“藥理學”兩門專業課程實驗教學的套用要求。
