課程共分12單元，每單元包括兩個部分：“小說要素”和“作品賞讀”，前者是關於短篇小說/小說的一些理論知識，後者是具體文本的解讀和評析，以前者引導後者，後者強化前者的概念，但中心是小說作品本身的賞讀。
