《英語小說導讀(第2版)》是英語專業高年級和研究生的文學教材，其編寫打破了傳統的英語文學編寫模式。《英語小說導讀(第2版)》由引論、情節、敘事角度、人物、背景、風格、主體、象徵、長篇小說、如何寫小說的評論文章等章節和附錄構成。在每一章節重點論述其涉及的範疇、概念，並選擇二至三篇小說進行典型分析，附以思考題。在論述各相關概念時，不但涉及其內涵和外延，還就相關的文學術語和理論給予簡要的討論，並用具體實例佐證。有的作品還提供了英美批評家的評論。“如何寫小說的評論文章”一章，旨在指導中國學生寫小論文和畢業論文，講述了如何選題、做筆記、列提綱、起草論文、用引語、做注釋、寫書目等，有助於學生寫出優秀的、規範的學術論文。
