本書由兩部分組成，第一部分是依據句酷批改網大數據獲取的大學生真實作文，總計38篇。批改網給出的評價結構由於技術現狀的限制還不能完全給出一個符合客觀情況的評價。所以針對作文中存在的問題，編者們從引言、主體以及結語部分中存在的語篇結構問題和句子結構、詞語誤用、語法錯誤等語言問題入手，給予詳細剖析並提出寫作要領，最重要的是本書不僅對學生的作文進行了猶如面對面批改般的指點，還給學生提供了今後可作借鑑、模仿的範文。這一部分內容可使學生深刻體會、領悟自身作文存在的問題並找到今後努力的方向。第二部分是編者自命題作文。這部分內容為大學生今後學習英語寫作提供了25篇範文。如果說第一部分是讓學生明白自己作文中存在的問題，那么第二部分則是為大學生未來寫作提供英語論文寫作規範的範本，學生可仿語言、仿文體、仿立意以及仿手法，進而消除寫作恐懼。
