侯廣旭編著的《英漢對比語言學史》是“中央高校基本科研業務費用專項基金項目”成果。作者採用歷史分析的方法,將我國英漢對比語言學分為開創階段(20世紀上半葉)、停滯階段(20世紀50和60年代)、復興階段(20世紀70和80年代)和繁榮階段(20世紀90年代)四個發展階段,詳細列舉了各個階段中代表學者如馬建忠、呂叔湘、嚴復等人的突出貢獻,勾勒出我國英漢對比語言學的發展歷程和研究成果,並指出發展中存在的問題和不足。
