胡亦台 是 Alston & Bird LLP 律師事務所智慧財產權訴訟團隊的合伙人。在2008 年，《智慧財產權法與商務》雜誌把他評為“50 位45 歲以下的頂尖智慧財產權律師之一”。胡律師的業務重點是國際智慧財產權訴訟與客戶諮詢。在訴訟方面，他曾在美國地區聯邦法院和州法院審理的30 個案件中擔任過首席律師。這些案件涉及專利、商業機密、許可爭議等。他在美國國際貿易委員會第337 條調查案方面經驗豐富，曾受理過18 個案件, 其中10 個案件他曾擔任過首席律師。在訴訟案中胡律師代表的客戶分別涉及如下技術領域：半導體技術、非易失存儲器、液晶顯示器、發光二極體、計算機顯示器、投影機、光學滑鼠技術、計算機網路產品、無線網路通訊產品、積體電路包裝、微處理器技術、數子電路設計等。他還在美國及海外對案件進行過仲裁，所涉及的內容為許可與技術轉讓之爭議。

胡律師代表過客戶就不少複雜的國際專利與技術許可協定進行談判。他的諮詢業務也包括技術型公司的合併與收購。
胡律師是加利福尼亞州、馬里蘭州、哥倫比亞特區（首都華盛頓）律師協會的成員。他被批准在如下地區與法庭執業：美國北加州地區聯邦法院及加州中部地區聯邦法院、哥倫比亞特區聯邦法院、威斯康辛西區聯邦法院、密西根東區聯邦法院、美國聯邦巡迴抗訴法院、美國專利與商標局。
他常常在會議和研討會上就國際智慧財產權法發表演講，其主題也包括在中國大陸與台灣對美國智慧財產權的保護。胡律師目前還兼任台灣國立交通大學的助理教授，講授美國專利訴訟方面的課程。就美國的訴訟問題，他應邀對台灣司法界（包括新成立的智慧財產權法庭）提供培訓。從2004 到2006 年，他是《專利世界》雜誌的編輯部成員。
