長期從事分離工程領域研究工作，先後主持或參與各類科研項目30餘項，包括國家攻關計畫（六五、七五、十五）、國家自然科學基金5項、省部攻關和基金6項、橫向合作項目20餘項。80年代獨立完成虹吸離心機原理研究並主持工程開發獲得成功，90年代以來實現大規模產業化，獲機械部科技進步二等獎、重慶市科技進步一等獎、國家產學研工程獎等；在機械分離其它領域也獲得成果；90年代末以來重點在膜分離、膜生物反應器和生物化工領域開展研究工作，在滲透汽化膜、過程和套用、膜生物反應器連續發酵、生物降解與生物轉化等方面取得重要成果。發表研究論文50餘篇，其中SCI檢索6篇，EI檢索15篇；發明專利授權3項。
教學、研究生培養等
1983年開始本科教學工作，先後講授工程流體機械、工程流體力學、傳熱學、工程熱力學等8門課程，指導畢業設計和論文，專題講座等；參與編寫21世紀核心教材。1992年開始指導和招收研究生，講授流體力學、膜及膜生物反應器、場論、分離機械專論等6門研究生課程，指導博士畢業7人，碩士畢業16人，現在讀博碩士研究生16人。5次獲得本科畢業論文優秀指導教師獎。

研究工作
