約翰·克萊爾(1793～1864)是英國19世紀浪漫主義時期詩人，他的詩歌創作側重於對自然的描寫。克萊爾發表過四部詩集，其中第一部《鄉村生活和自然景色的描寫》獲得巨大轟動，因為這部詩集他獲得了“北安普頓的詩人”的美譽(Northamptonshire Poet)。其作品以植物、動物、家鄉以及愛情等主題見長，21世紀伊始，由於生態批評的發展，克萊爾再次走入批評家和讀者的視線。
