程宗明博士([email protected]),於2009年9月開始擔任南京農業大學園藝學院教授,併兼美國田納西大學植物科學系教授 ([email protected])。程宗明教授的研究領域是果樹系統生物學,包括基因組學,生物信息學,分子生物學,生物技術。

人物經歷
程宗明博士於1985年從南京農業大學園藝系去康乃爾大學攻讀碩士和博士學位。師從國際著名葡萄育種及生物技術學家Bruce Reisch教授,於1990年11月任北達科達州立大學園藝和林業系(後改為植物科學系)助教授位置,1997年升為副教授,並獲得終生聘請。在1998-2001年期間曾擔任該校三學院由三十幾位教授組成的細胞及分子生物學博士學科的主任。在該校期間,主要從事核果類果樹園林樹木生物技術的研究及核果類果樹(Prunus viginiana L.)和Phytophasma(植菌體)的相互作用研究。共發表論文17篇,獲美國農業部NRI的資助兩項,美國能源部的資助兩項以及美國大型農業生物技術公司Monsanto 和 Ciba Cygie (Sengenta 的前身)的資助,領導育成一個樺樹品種,並參與培育兩個樺樹品種,該三品種獲得美國品種專利和註冊商標。
2001年程宗明轉到田納西大學植物科學系任副教授,並獲得了終身聘用(Tenured),是該校教授參議院的成員(選舉產生)。於2009年升為正教授。在田納西大學期間,程教授的主要研究方向為木本植物(以楊樹和葡萄為模式試材)的生物技術以及基因組學和生物信息學。現為美國能源部生物能源中心田納西大學楊樹中心首席科學家。在該校期間,曾獲得多項美國能源部,環保總局和美國自然科學基金會的項目。其間共發表(通訊作者和合作作者)SCI論文31篇。應Critical Rev. in Pl. Sci.雜誌主編的邀請,程宗明教授和美國能源部Gerald Tuskan資深研究員聯合主編特刊:Populus Community Mega-genomics:Coming Of Age (2009,issue 5)。並有二個provisional 專利:(a stress tolerance gene and its promoter and its broad application to agriculture),正式專利正在申請中。由於程宗明教授的處於領先的研究,他應邀美國Ciba Ceigi公司,Monsanto公司,Minnesota大學園藝系, Clemson大學園藝系,Oregon State Univ. 園藝系, Iowa 州立大學園藝系,田納西大學植物學系,美國園藝學會年會,國際園藝學年會,納米技術在林產業套用大會做特邀報告。
