1995年考入清華大學工程力學系,1999年和2004年分別獲得清華大學工程力學系學士和博士學位。2004~2008年先後在美國約翰霍普金斯大學(Johns Hopkins University)和美國加州大學(University of California)作博士後,2008年獲得美國能源部的J. Robert Oppenheimer Fellowship,並進入Los Alamos國家實驗室(Earth and Environmental Sciences Division and Center for Non-Linear Studies)工作,任奧本海默學者(Oppenheimer Fellow)。2011年進入清華航天航空學院工作,任教授,同年入選國家首批青年千人計畫,2012年入選清華大學基礎研究人才計畫,2013年獲得吳仲華優秀青年學者獎。
