本書自初版出版以來，深受讀者喜愛與關注。考慮讀者的建議和汽車技術的發展，應機械工業出版社之約，現對本書進行修訂再版。本次再版保留了初版的基本結構和框架，刪除了部分陳舊、繁雜內容，替換或補充了排放控制、可變氣門定時、無級變速器、柴油機燃油噴射系統，增加了汽油直噴、共軌噴油系統、機械式自動變速器、雙離合變速器等內容。為了方便教學，免費提供全部課文的參考譯文和課件，需要者請上網下載。參加本次修訂的有宋進桂、譚德榮、牟愛鵬、於京諾、楊占鵬、王立剛、陳燕、閆平、李棟、王品、戚寧、田忠民等。本次修訂還得到了機械工業出版社、魯東大學交通學院等單位的大力支持，在此表示衷心地感謝。
