核能學術期刊是指科學學術性期刊。

早期刊載核科技文獻的期刊數量不多，主要有美國出版的《核子學》，法國出版的《原子》等(見表1)。50年代以來，隨著核能和平利用的開展，核能學術期刊的數量不斷增加。據國際核信息系統1997年統計，目前，國際上刊載核能及其和平利用方面文獻的期刊約2000餘種。年刊載10篇以上核能文獻的期刊有500餘種，其中美國出版的達100餘種，日本出版的60餘種，俄羅斯出版的50餘種。專門刊載核能及其和平套用方面文獻的期刊有200餘種，如美國出版的《核科學與工程》《聚變能雜誌》《核技術》《聚變技術》《電漿物理》《核電廠雜誌》《放射性廢物雜誌》《核材料管理雜誌》《核安全》《核新聞》，英國出版的《國際核工程》《核工程師》《電漿物理與受控聚變》《輻射防護雜誌》《套用輻射與同位素》，俄羅斯出版的《原子能》《電漿物理》《國外原子能技術》，法國出版的《核雜誌》《輻射防護》，荷蘭出版的《核材料雜誌》，日本出版的《核科學技術雜誌》《火力原子力發電》《核視點》，瑞士出版的《核工程與設計》《聚變工程與設計》，國際原子能機構出版的《核聚變》《國際原子能機構通報》，核能機構出版的《核法律通報》《核廢物通報》，以及中國出版的《核動力工程》《核科學與工程》《輻射防護》《原子能科學技術》等。核能學術期刊報導的專業範圍涉及中子物理與核物理電漿物理與聚變放射化學與核化學輻射化學核燃料與核材料同位素與輻射的套用核醫學與放射生物學保健輻射防護與劑量學核安全與環境科學反應堆與核電廠廢物管理核儀器儀表以及核能的經濟法律及其他問題等。主要的核能學術期刊見表2。核能領域的檢索期刊主要有國際原子能機構出版的《INIS原子索引》美國出版的《能源研究文摘》日本的《核科學情報》俄羅斯的《文摘雜誌》及中國出版的《中國核科技文摘》等(見表3)。
