李魯遠博士，南開大學特聘教授，博士生導師，國家重點基礎研究發展計畫（973計畫）首席科學家。1982年畢業於四川大學，生物化學學士。1988年畢業於美國康乃爾大學，生物化學博士。1988—1991年美國賓夕法尼亞州立大學博士後研究員。1991—1995年美國Cyanamid公司醫學部高級研究員。1995—2002年美國喬治城大學醫學院分子生化系和腫瘤學系助理教授，Lombardi腫瘤中心研究員。2002—2008年美國匹茲堡大學醫學院病理系副教授，UPCI腫瘤研究院研究員，McGowan再生醫學研究院研究員。

學術貢獻
李魯遠對生物學、醫學的主要貢獻包括：1）發現人類內皮細胞生長抑制因子VEGI（TNFSF15）並揭示其功能；2）通過對促血管生長素Angiopoietin-1的研究，在2000年首先提出“利用血管平滑肌細胞穩定腫瘤血管可以抑制腫瘤生長”的假說，已被腫瘤學界普遍接受；3）揭示人類長菱基因族RHBDF1基因對癌基因上皮生長因子受體EGFR活化的關鍵作用。李魯遠在生物化學、腫瘤生物學、血管生物學、免疫學等領域的主要科學雜誌上發表論文30餘篇，專利多項。
