醫學博士,主任醫師,教授,博士生導師。現任海軍軍醫大學(第二軍醫大學)附屬長海醫院骨科主任,中國人民解放軍脊柱外科中心主任,第二軍醫大學-新加坡國立大學脊柱畸形聯合研究中心主任,享受國務院政府特殊津貼及軍隊優秀專業技術人才崗位津貼。
創辦《脊柱畸形雜誌》並擔任主編,受邀擔任國際脊柱外科雜誌Spine特約審稿人,擔任Spine中文版、《中華外科雜誌》、《中華骨科雜誌》、《中華創傷雜誌》(中英文版)、《中華醫學雜誌》(英文版)、《中國脊柱脊髓雜誌》、《中國矯形外科雜誌》、《脊柱外科雜誌》、《中國骨與關節外科雜誌》、《中國骨科臨床與基礎研究雜誌》、《中國微創外科雜誌》等20餘種核心期刊雜誌副主編、常務編委及編委。
長期從事臨床一線的醫、教、研工作,形成了以脊柱外科為專業方向的鮮明特色,尤其在脊柱畸形領域具有較高的造詣和學術地位。所治療的患者除遍布國內29個省市自治區外,還有來自義大利、挪威、西班牙、英國、加拿大、巴西和美國等13個國家和地區的疑難病例;治療的疑難病例和吸引的國外患者被中央電視(1,2,10頻道)、香港鳳凰衛視、東方衛視等30餘家境內外媒體宣傳報導。
目前在國內、外刊物上發表論文300餘篇(SCI收錄論文140餘篇),其中在脊柱外科權威期刊Spine發表文章20餘篇;主編國內首部脊柱側凸專著《脊柱側凸三維矯形理論與技術》,另主編、主譯出版了《脊柱畸形精要》、《脊柱關節成形術》等15部脊柱外科領域專著、譯著。
