1993年蘭州大學化學系分析化學專業本科畢業。1993年至1998年蘭州大學化學系分析化學專業研究生學習，1998年獲博士學位。1998年至2001年在蘭州空間技術物理研究所從事博士後研究。2001年至2003年在英國利茲大學（University of Leeds）物理和天文學院從事博士後研究。2004年起在蘭州空間技術物理研究所原子頻標中心工作。2008年至2009年在美國俄克拉何馬大學（the University of Oklahoma）化學及生物化學系從事博士後工作。2011年在蘭州理工大學石油化工學院任教。李冠斌教授
