提高了英語水平、在國際期刊上發表英語文章的科研能力、跨文化交際能力、跨文化環境中就業和職業發展之能力以及更豐富的學術、文化和社會知識、更寬闊的視野、更廣泛的社會網路、新友誼及新形成的“個性”和“慣習”(hbitus)。研究指出:中國留學生在海外面臨學習、生活上挑戰並克服困難之時,他們實際上就是在積累文化資本,其中,英語語言水平為“資本一個性”轉換過程中最關鍵點。研究證明留學生畢業後無論在海內外工作,都享用了其積累的文化資本,特別是享受了國際教育的象徵資本(symboliccapital)和卓越。
研究為中、外國際教育實踐者提供了重要借鑑。《文化適應與個人資本形成:中國學生留英經歷研究》適於曾接受過、正在接受和打算接受國際教育的中國學生閱讀,也適於中外國際教育實踐者和研究者閱讀。《文化適應與個人資本形成:中國學生留英經歷研究》還為國際教育決策者提供了重要參考依據。
作者簡介
薛惠娟,蘇州大學外語學院英語文學學士;華東師範大學外語學院英語語言學碩士;2002—2003年獲中國教育部出國留學基金訪學英國一年;2003—2008年留英攻博,獲管理學博士;2010年10月回中國工作。曾在英國大學國際辦公室工作(攻博時非全日制),全面負責中國教育市場開發:發展合作夥伴關係,招收、錄取國際學生。曾多次參加國際會議,已發表文章20餘篇(部)。
研究方向:英語教學與測試,國際教育,跨文化交際。
