研究領域：半翅目昆蟲形態學、系統學與生物多樣性研究，葉蟬傳毒機制及害蟲綜合治理研究。

科研項目
科研方面先後主持國家自然科學基金4項、教育部新世紀優 秀人才支持計畫項目、中央直屬高校基本科研業務費（重大項目培育專項、優秀青年人才專項）、中國科學院西部之光人才培養計畫項目、陝西省優秀博士論文獎勵基金、校青年學術骨幹支持計畫項目等課題。
人才培養
教學方面承擔了本科生的《普通昆蟲學》、《城市昆蟲學》、《昆蟲與健康》、《昆蟲多樣性》，研究生的《動物分類原理與方法》、《生物多樣性與保護生物學》、《昆蟲形態學研究進展》等課程的理論、實驗及實習教學任務。
榮譽表彰
獲陝西省教學成果獎特等獎1項、西北農林科技大學教學成果特等獎1項、二等獎2項。
2006年入選西北農林科技大學青年學術骨幹支持計畫；
2007年獲陝西省優秀博士論文獎勵；
2007年榮獲周堯昆蟲分類學獎；
