TheaimofthisresearchistoinvestigatethekeymarketgrowthfactorsforgolfdevelopmentinChinaasarecreationandluxuryproduct.Afternearly30yearsofdevelopment,ChinanowhasthelargestgolfcomplexintheworldandthegolfmarketinChinaisgrowingatitsfastestpaceforrecentyears(Verot,2013).Duetorapideconomicgrowthandtheemergenceofalargenumberofwealthypeople,ithasbeenarguedthattheconsumptionofluxuryandrecreationproductswillincrease.Practically,thereisevidencetosuggestthatgolfinginChinaisbeingdevelopedasbotharecreationproductandaluxuryproduct.However,littleresearchhasbeencarriedouttoanswerthequestionswhyaforeigngamecoulddevelopsorobustly,andwhatarethekeyfactorsthathavecontributedtoitsgrowthinrelationtoitsuniquefeatures.Moreover,golfdevelopmentinChinaistakingplacewithinanincreasinglycomplicatedenvironment,whichnecessitatesstrategicadjustmentsingolfandrelatedbusinessforsustainedgrowth.Afterexaminingexistingliterature,thisresearchproposesthetheoreticalframework,whichidentifiestherelationshipamonggolfindustry,featuresandpotentialfactors.
