廖益 本科畢業於清華大學，於中科院高能物理所或博士學位，於德國歷史最悠久的Lepizig萊比錫大學擔任助理教授5年。南開大學引進人才。南開大學物理系教授，理論物理學家，研究方向：高能物理唯象，量子場論，neutrino 於世界頂尖期刊physical review letter 發表文章超過100次引用。並於PRD及PLB上發表相當論文獲得相當引用。是高能物理方向知名物理學家。

研究興趣
(1) 中微子物理。特別是中微子振盪, 不含中微子的雙貝塔衰變及高能對撞機上中微子參與的物理過程。
(2) 暗物質。可能的暗物質粒子及其探測。
(3) 極輕粒子與光子相互作用導致的強場中光束偏振性質的改變及其在天體物理中的效應。
曾研究過的專題
(1) 非粒子(unparticle)的物理。研究其唯象學和基本理論所有方面。
(2) 非對易時空中的量子場論及唯象學。
(3) Higgs物理與對撞機物理。
(4) 輻射修正, 重整化理論。
