《大學英語視聽演練》是根據教育部《高等學校大學英語教學要求》、《大學英語A級、四級考試大綱》及《高等職業教育英語課程教學要求》（2010）中對聽說教學的基本要求，以普通高等教育套用型人才培養為目標，以學生自主學習能力、實踐創新能力培養為目的，以突出視聽說與交流能力的訓練與培養為特色，按大學英語考試聽力新題型設計，由教學經驗豐富的一線教師編寫而成，旨在幫助學生找到通過各類大學英語聽力考試的捷徑。
全書共分10個模組，每個模組分四節編寫。第一節視頻（為配合大學英語聽力機考改革設計）、第二節音頻（為培養考生的聽力學習興趣及聽、演、練的能力設計）、第三節PRETC0-A級聽力（通過對A級題型分類點撥、強化訓練等實現A級成績的突破）、第四節CET-4聽力（通過對四級題型分類點撥、強化訓練等實現四級成績的突破）。同時還在每章末尾提供了參考答案。全書編寫體例前瞻，編寫材料新穎，趣味性、思想性強。
