吳際，女，教授， 博士生導師。1997年北京大學博士畢業，1997年至2004年11月分別到德國哥廷根大學和德國靈長中心做博士後，美國康乃狄克大學訪問學者，美國猶他大學Research Fellow，美國天普大學Associate Scientist。研究方向有幹細胞生物學、 分子生殖生物學。作品有《幹細胞移植-機理和臨床》。

2004年11月至今任上海交通大學生命科學技術學院教授、博士生導師。曾主持上海市浦江人才計畫基金、教育部高等學校博士點基金和教育部留學回國人員基金。現主持國家自然科學基金重點項目, 國家自然科學基金重大研究計畫培育項目, 農業部重大項目子課題和科技部重大研究計畫子課題。已在Nature Cell Biology, Molecular Biology of the Cell, Developmental Biology, Cellular Signalling, Journal of Cellular Physiology, Biology of Reproduction, Cell Proliferation, Fertility and Sterility, Human Reprodution, Journal of Endocrinology等重要學術刊物上發表論文近50篇。受邀為FEBS J, Reproductive Biology and Endocrinology, DNA and Cell Biology 等雜誌撰寫綜述。最新研究成果—發現成年哺乳動物卵巢內具有自我更新和分化潛能的生殖幹細胞，開闢了一個嶄新研究領域。Science，Nature, Nature Medicine和眾多家雜誌刊發評論文章，Nature China將這一成果列入最新研究亮點。為國際Faculty of 1000 Biology推薦論文，世界各大媒體（包括《紐約時報》、《華盛頓郵報》、《路透社》、《美國廣播公司新聞》（ABC News）、《泰晤士報》(The Times)等）紛紛報導。現為美國Reproductive Biology and Endocrinology 雜誌Adviser，美國American Journal of Biochemistry and Biotechnology 雜誌客座編輯，香港研究資助局大學教育資助委員會國際評審, 中國組織工程研究與臨床康複雜志編委，Stem Cell Reviews and Reports, Cell Proliferation, Developmental Dynamics, Cloning and Stem Cells, DNA and Cell Biology 等十餘家雜誌特邀審稿人。
