黑社會頭子奧戴爾洛比一向從事走私軍火和販賣毒品的罪惡勾當。他性格陰鬱，心狠手辣。走私慣犯貝蒙特利文斯頓是他的心腹，一向忠心耿耿，但因涉嫌真誠私販毒被警方拘押後，奧戴爾唯恐自己的罪行受牽連，先是委派合伙人馬克斯徹里用一萬美元將貝蒙特保釋出獄，繼而又不動聲色地將其除掉滅口……
妖艷、聰慧的空中小姐傑基布朗也為奧戴爾工作，負責收取軍火走私和販毒的款項。由於被發現在提包里藏有巨額現金和古柯鹼，警方將她在機場扣留。於是奧戴爾故伎重施，又請馬克斯去保釋她，並同樣準備殺她滅口。不料馬克斯為傑基的美貌所迷，一見鐘情，兩人纏綿難捨。聰明的傑基在得知奧戴爾的不良居心後便私下同警方達成交易：如若警方能支付她十萬美元以保證她今後的安定生活，她便允諾提供確鑿的證據，將警方一直苦心懸賞緝拿的毒梟奧戴爾送上法庭。同時她又勸誘馬克斯同她一起策劃一宗更大的軍火走私，吊住奧戴爾的胃口，穩住他。貪婪的奧戴爾果然上當，儘管他殺傑基之心未泯，仍派情婦梅蘭妮和打手路易斯給傑基送來五萬美元定金。
貨款交接在一家超市的酒吧內進行，然而梅蘭妮和路易斯也相繼背叛了奧戴爾，都心懷鬼胎準備攜款潛逃。由於分髒不均，路易斯向梅蘭妮開槍後被預先埋伏的警察擊斃；而馬克斯已完全拜倒在傑基腳下怒不可遏的奧截爾衝進馬克斯的辦公室，但等待他的是警方洋冷的槍口……傑基布朗攜巨款遠走高飛了。馬克斯謝絕了她向他支付的酬金，或許情愛在這裡比金錢更有價值。
