《中國古代建築知識普及與傳承系列叢書·北京古建築五書：北京頤和園（英文版）》分為上下兩篇，上篇為前身清漪園的建造過程與歷史背景、整體山水構架、建築布局與庭園的風光，以及造園的意境手法。其中乾隆年間的盛世風華，洋溢在字裡行間，甚至於乾隆對於西湖勝景的偏愛，對海外仙山的嚮往，以及對造園的出爾反爾，都被亦莊亦諧地筆調，細緻地摹寫下來，興致盎然。然而筆鋒陡轉，歷史興衰，清漪園的奢華勝景，頃刻間在兵焚戰火中化為齏粉，令人心生民族的慨嘆。

　　下篇包括頤和園重建過程與歷史背景，以及頤和園的帝後生活空間，及至現今的名勝景區。自從家國危難之際，慈禧挪用海軍軍費重建了頤和園以後，頤和園便背負了過於沉重的意義，湖光山色、亭台樓閣，再不復單純的自然與藝術之美，磚石土木亦散發著歷史的人文味道。

作者簡介

賈珺，1970年出生於江蘇淮陰，2001年獲得清華大學建築學院歷史與理論專業博士並留校任教。2006-2007年任羅馬大學建築學院訪問學者。現為清華大學建築學院教授、國家一級註冊建築師、清華大學圖書館建築分館館長、《建築史》叢刊主編。主要從事中國古典園林史和中外建築文化交流領域的教學和研究工作，主持國家自然科學基金項目3項和清華大學基礎研究基金各1項，在核心期刊和國家學術會議上發表論文70篇，出版學術著作4部，翻譯學術著作2部。
