本學科發展報告的定位是面向本學科相關行業技術進步與技術發展所進行的回顧、總結、思考與建議。報告從電能生產、電能傳輸、電能配用以及貫穿上述各個環節的大容量電力電子技術四個方面展開（基本結構如圖1所示），對我國動力與電氣工程學科過去5年的主要進展進行梳理與總結。通過國內外研究進展的比較，本報告希望從巨觀上對本學科的技術發展水平進行初步的判斷。在此基礎上，本報告進一步分析了本學科發展的主要推動因素，並結合國家重大戰略需求對學科未來發展趨勢進行判斷，提出了推動學科更好更快發展的若干建議。
