2002年留中南大學資源生物學院工作，2005年博士畢業獲中南大學工學博士學位，2007年中南大學冶金工程博士後出站，獲第二屆“湖南省優秀博士後”榮譽稱號，2009年7月至2011年6月在日本國立物質·材料研究機構（National Institute for Materials Science，NIMS）從事博士後研究工作。2011年入選中南大學“升華學者計畫”特聘教授。2012年6月至9月應邀以Visiting Scientist在日本國際納米材料構造中心（International Research Center for Materials Nanoarchitectonics, MANA）合作研究。先後主持國家自然科學基金青年基金、湖南省傑出青年基金、湖南省自然科學基金、湖南省科技計畫重點項目、中南大學"升華學者計畫"特聘教授科研基金、中央高校科研業務費前瞻布局研究重點項目等多項課題。

近年來，以第一作者或通訊作者在Advanced Materials、Angewandte Chemie International Edition、Journal of Materials Chemistry、Chemistry - An Asian Journal、Crystal Growth & Design、Dalton Transactions、Journal of Physical Chemistry C、Journal of the American Ceramic Society等國際知名期刊上發表研究論文50餘篇（SCI），論文已被國內外SCI檢索刊物如Chemical Reviews、Chemical Society Reviews、Advanced Materials、JACS、Advanced Functional Materials等引用700餘篇次，H-index為18。申請國家發明專利4項，獲授權4項。2010年度獲湖南省自然科學二等獎1項，排名第1。邀請為Inorganic Chemistry、Journal of Materials Chemistry、Crystal Growth & Design、Journal of Physical Chemistry C、ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces、Nanotechnology等10餘種國際知名期刊審稿人，中國儀表功能材料學會理事。
