劉宏偉“男，博士， 華中師範大學數學與統計學學院教授， 1969年12月生， 湖北廣水人，現任教於數學與統計學學院。
1992年7月畢業於湖北大學數學系， 獲理學學士學位；
2000年7月畢業於武漢大學數學系， 獲理學碩士學位；
2003年7月畢業於武漢大學數學系， 獲理學博士學位。
1992年7月—1995年5月任教於武漢重型工具機廠職工大學，助教；
1995年5月—2001年5月任教於湖北經濟學院，助教，講師；
2001年5月—現在， 任教於華中師範大學數學與統計學院，先後任講師，副教授，教授。其中在2007年8月—2008年8月赴美國斯克蘭頓大學數學系訪問，任訪問學者，與Steven T. Dougherty 教授合作開展編碼方面的研究工作。
教授課程：
線性代數，微積分，高等代數，高等代數與解析幾何(I, II, III)，抽象代數（本科生和研究生），離散數學，編碼理論（研究生）。
研究方向： 代數編碼。
