劉力平，1963年生於天津，1987年於北京大學取得碩士學位並於同年開始在北京大學工作，先後任助教（1987-1989）、講師（1989-1995）、副教授（1995－2003）和教授（2003－），1992-1996年曾數次赴芬蘭訪問、學習，並獲博士學位。近年來多次赴香港等地開展學術交流等活動。
現任北京大學繼續教育部部長，數學科學學院教授。

成就
主講過“機率論”、“數理統計”等多門課程，教學經驗豐富。曾榮獲2000年度北京大學教學優秀獎和2004年北京市教育教學成果二等獎（第四）。迄今已指導培養了3名碩士和一名博士研究生。現任北京大學數學科學學院機率統計系副主任，分管教學等方面的工作。其研究領域包括生存分析、捕獲再捕獲，數字圖像統計重建等，承擔國家自然科學基金項目、和科技部973項目等重要研究工作，在Applied Statistics, Statistics in Medicine, Statistica Sinica等期刊發表論文十餘篇。了解掌握相關領域的進展並能較好地與教學工作相結合。
