1978年2月至1982年1月就讀於華中工學院(現華中科技大學)電力工程系電機專業,同年留學法國,於1986年獲法國Institute Nationale Polytechnique de Toulouse電氣工程博士學位,此後在法國Laboratoire de Génie Electrique de Paris (LGEP)做電磁場數值計算的博士後研究,創造性地提出了在導體區用棱邊變數的FE法,外部空間用邊界積分法,兩個區域都用電場強度作待求量,並據此編制了專業領域著名的Trifou-e軟體。任卓翔博士在電磁場計算中的數值算法及耦合電磁機械系統建模等領域都有豐碩的成果,發表了大量論著,是該領域國際公認的知名學者。他先後任職過的公司及高校有:Ansoft Corporation、法國國家科學研究中心、法國國立土魯斯綜合理工學院,1996年任美國俄亥俄州立大學客座教授,1999年2010任職於美國Mentor Graphics Corporation,擔任Principal engineer。自2010.09至今 法國巴黎第六大學 教授,博導,現任中國科學院微電子研究所研究員,目前作為微電子研究所EDA中心首席專家參與國家科技重大專項研究項目,千人計畫入選者。
