亞歷克西斯·阿奎特的哥哥里奇蒙德·阿奎特（Richmond Arquette）通過Facebook宣布了這一訊息：“我們的弟弟羅伯特·阿奎特，後來改名為亞歷克西斯，後來又變成我們妹妹的亞歷克西斯，已經在9月11日凌晨零點32分去世了。她去世時，所有的兄弟姐妹都陪在她身邊，另外還有她的一位侄女和其它幾位親人。”
里奇蒙德·阿奎特接著寫道：“我們一直為她播放音樂，她是在大衛·鮑威（David Bowie）的‘Starman’中去世的。遵照她的遺囑，我們祝賀她去了另外一個世界。”
《好萊塢報導》稱，亞歷克斯西·阿奎特曾常年遭受嚴重的傷病，不過她去世的原因並不明確。
