《I'm A Slave 4 U》由海王星樂隊（查德·雨果和法瑞爾·威廉士）創作並製作，由瑞安·史密斯和蒂姆·羅伯茨負責整合，由塞班·根亞負責混音，由安德魯·科爾曼負責錄製。
《I'm A Slave 4 U》該歌曲原定收錄於珍妮·傑克遜的專輯《All For You》，珍妮·傑克遜亦錄製了歌曲的小樣。但是最後這首歌並沒有收錄於其中。當時製作專輯的布蘭妮·斯皮爾斯聽到了這首歌，她很喜歡所以拿走了這首歌。
