歌曲含義
《X-Kid》的創作是為了紀念一位已經自殺的與樂隊關係很親密的朋友。“我真的不想太多地談論這個，”BJ說，“太沉重了。”這首歌是BJ寫給在加州Rodeo一起長大的好友的，後者在2009年自殺。然而，在吟唱此悲劇的同時，這首歌也是關於整個X一代（在大約1960-1980之間出生的人）。BJ很多次的在採訪中把自己稱為Ex-Kid/X-Kid。但他克服了這代人共有的苦難和煎熬，變得成熟，而他這位好友，沒能做到，他選擇了逃脫。歌詞“Here goes nothing, the shouting’s over”寫出BJ在這位已故的朋友身上看到自己的影子。他對自己的朋友幾乎沒得到什麼幫助感到很悲傷，儘管他希望有人能在一切都太晚前有辦法去拯救他的朋友。有一種人，他們本質是好的，是善的，但是他們從來沒有真正學到過如何去成為一名成年人，可以說BJ逝去的朋友就屬於這種人。
